Intro
User: Car Driver

A Driver’s Daily Routine Analysis
At the start of the project, I selected a diverse group of car drivers from my neighborhood, varying in age. I accompanied them on short trips, conducting brief questionnaires to gather insights into their motivations, daily routines, and digital awareness.

Feature Brainstorming on Driver Motivation and Behavior
Next, the entire Allegory team and I held a workshop to collectively evaluate the insights. We focused primarily on the opportunities within driver motivations and behaviors, which played a key role in prioritizing the app’s key features.
Wireframing
Flows for User Guidance
My Feature Recommendations
+ My Journey Flow: Educating users with their driving stats and guiding them on what to do next. By implementing effective task management, we can motivate users to become better drivers, while also improving app engagement to keep them onboard.
+ Allegory Feed: Creating a community for drivers to stay connected with their peers, sharing their successes and driving journeys. This feature also aimed to motivate users to engage with the app, increasing overall usage and interaction.
Creating a New Information Architecture
With the addition of new features, we needed to redesign the information architecture, including updated context and navigation. I created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize user flows. Exploring possible use cases and flows guided me in developing the new information architecture.
Prototyping with the Wireframes
After many iterations working on information architecture, I was ready to design all flows in high detail to cover all the features.

User Interfaces
New Design System
In the UI design phase, Allegory’s branding, originally created by my team, was updated with new alternative colors and typeface. All components and the design system were developed based on high-fidelity wireframes. The new accent colors and typeface were introduced to enhance contextual variety and support the overall design.

Marketing Interface
Website Design
After designing the mobile app, I led the website design process, focusing on introducing Allegory and its benefits to potential users. For the UI, I used clean, subtle explanations to guide the design. In terms of art direction, I chose warm, positive images of smiling people to motivate users and convey the value Allegory can bring to their daily lives.

Impact & Key Learnings
Primary Objective Achieved
We tested the app in collaboration with one of the largest insurance companies in Canada. The results were highly satisfying, with all features— including behavior analytics tracking and community building—performing effectively.
Designer’s Touch to the Service
I thoroughly enjoyed contributing directly to the service, learning valuable lessons about enhancing and maintaining user engagement through effective, motivating UX. It was also a great opportunity to refine my design management skills and improve internal team communication.
