Smartoptic UX Case

Smartoptic is an optics company offering a diverse range of eyeglasses and lenses.

Tablet App for Retail Stores

Primary Objective
Designing a new tablet app focused on delivering fast-paced user engagement for sales professionals, including streamlined order placement.

Design Team
Me as the UX Designer, 1 Visual Designer, 1 Motion-Video Designer, 1 Project Manager, 4 stakeholders in Company.

User: Salesman

Research on Site
I started to project firstly visiting multiple stores to observe and take notes on the service and the interaction between salespeople and customers.

Research of Similar Experiences
After that, I conducted UX benchmarking with a leading company offering tablet sales app experiences to identify potential pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Built from Scratch

Updating the Primary User Flow
Using insights from my store visits and market research, I updated the user flow and created a fresh, new app architecture.

Why?
The user experience was fragmented across two separate apps for selecting and ordering, which made the process time-consuming. By merging these into a single, streamlined flow, we successfully reduced sales time.

Impact & Key Learnings

Primary Objective Achieved
The tablet app is now much faster than the competition. We’ve received fantastic feedback from salespeople about the improved speed and usability.

For me: New sector unlocked ๐Ÿ™‚
It was a pleasure collaborating with several stakeholders and execute the project. I learned a lot about optics sector and how their main service is operated.
Plus, working on a tablet widescreen app design was a great opportunity to understand the bigger mobile devices interactions.
